The Professional Pharmacy Student Alliance (PPSA) combines student organizations at both the state and national level. We help current students provide outreach to community members through a number of projects. We are responsible for providing vaccinations via our Operation Immunization, alongside heart health and diabetes screenings and education with Operations Heart and Diabetes. We have outreach dedicated to mental health, women's health, Over-The-Counter education and safety, as well as providing educational material about the potential dangers for substance use disorders and abuse of prescription medications.
PPSA helps students attend national meetings with the American Pharmacists Association (APhA) in order to network with future employers and residency programs. PPSA sponsors funds to help several students a year cover the cost of attendance, which allows them to more easily access networking opportunities across the country. We also help to provide the funds for student outreach across both Idaho and Alaska with our partner campuses in Pocatello, Meridian, and Anchorage. We work with local schools and community centers to provide point of care testing, vaccinations and educational materials.
The donation of funds to PPSA will help provide more community outreach and education, reaching larger audiences across Idaho and Alaska. The more Pharmacist Patient Outreach opportunities PPSA is able to provide, the more we are able to help our communities thrive.
