Dean's Excellence Fund - College of Education
- Student Success: Your gift provides essential funding for conferences, mentoring, and hands-on learning that guide graduates as they transition into their professions. This year, students attended the Shape Idaho and AECT Conferences for professional growth and networking. Your generosity also funds the TRAIL summer program, which places teacher candidates in rural schools for intensive, transformative experiences. These experiences build adaptability, empathy, and a commitment to educational equity while providing valuable support to rural classrooms.
- Technology Integration: Thanks to donor support, the college has added new, innovative learning tools across departments. The Human Performance and Sport Studies department now uses ROARCycle technology for both student learning and community recreation. Donors also funded the ESL simulation lab with TeachLive, where future teachers practice classroom management through virtual scenarios. Other upgrades include GoReact for teaching reflection and 3D printers and coding robots in the IMPROVE lab. Next, the college plans to explore how AI can support teaching and learning. These tools give students hands-on experience with the latest technology to prepare them for their careers.
- Research and Innovation: Your support helps launch new research by funding pilot studies and innovative ideas that often lead to larger grants. Donor-backed projects have already grown into major initiatives, such as improving STEM teacher shortages and supporting youth mental health—now funded by the National Science Foundation and the U.S. Department of Education. These successes show how small investments can create a big impact. Continued donor support ensures new ideas can grow and make a lasting difference.
